The city of Latina has a surface of 2.250 kmq, with 33 communes and 510.000 inhabitants. The territory is flown by Tirreno Sea. The littoral develops on more than 100 km from Astura river until Garigliano mounth. The most important centres of this area are: Latina, Sabaudia, S. Felice Circeo, Terracina, Fondi, Sperlonga, Gaeta, Formia e Minturno-Scauri.
The pontine isles are divided into two groups: Ponza, Palmarola, Gavi e Zannone in North-West, Ventotene e Santo Stefano in South-East. The province of Latina is crossed by Appennini. From North to South, Lepini Mounts, Ausoni Mounts and Aurunci Mounts. The vegetation is quiet varied and the mountain are high and big. The most important cities of this area are Bassiano, Cori, Norma, Priverno, Maenza, Roccagorga, Prossedi, Roccasecca dei Volsci, Rocca Massima, Sermoneta e Sezze. Near these mounts extends the Agro Pontino. In this place, rise up the “new cities”: Latina, Sabaudia, Aprilia and Pontinia. These cities were built in fascist age, between 1932 and 1937, when there was the reclamation of pontine marsch. Near the see there is the city of Fondi, Sperlonga and Terracina. The province of Latina has an economy based on agriculture, industry, tourism and tertiary. In the south area of the city is developed the trade, instead on the coast is developed the tourist activity.
